The construction of the new £60 million state-of-the-art Water Treatment Works for Plymouth, started in April 2016, after a 18 months pilot study. It will use cutting-edge treatment processes, designed and developed by PWNT and tested at a pilot facility from June 2013 until  June 2015. The new waterworks will use SIX® (suspended ion exchange with resin regeneration system), ILCA® (inline coagulation and adsorption) and CeraMac® (ceramic membrane microfiltration). It is the first time that this combined technology has been used in the UK. The commissioning is planned for 2018.
